Lewis releases his plan to fight drug and sex crimes; will create
criminal division to help local officials fight crime.

You have seen CSI Miami, LA and New York.  Well, call this CSI West Virginia.  Hiram Lewis, candidate
for Attorney General, has released his plan to combat the proliferation of drug and sex abuse spreading
throughout West Virginia.

The Lewis plan, entitled “The West Virginia Crime Prevention and Support Initiative,” includes shifting
some of the staff and resources in the current AG office to a criminal division that will provide financial
support, resources, and staff to local county officials for investigation and prosecution of crime,
especially drug and sex crime.  “Meth labs are flourishing in our state's rural and metropolitan areas.
We must offer our assistance to the over-worked and tapped out local prosecutors and sheriffs that fight
this battle on a daily basis."

The Lewis plan calls for 5 mobile crime labs that can be dispatched 24 hours a day to any location in the
state.

"The mobile labs will collect, gather and test forensic evidence found at the scene, and preserve that
evidence for later use in the trial process," Lewis said.

In his several years of practice as an attorney and as a JAG officer in the military, Lewis says he has
personally witnessed cases in which the criminal went free because the local prosecutor did not have the
resources to fully prosecute.

"We need an Attorney General who will work with our local officials to insure that no one walks free
because of a lack of resources, especially those guilty of sex or drug abuse."
